The game on Friday is special for two reasons. Firstly, because it is the WNBA’s first Barbie Night. As part of the celebration of the 65th Barbie anniversary, the Wintrust arena will feature Barbie booths and special gifts for the first 2000 fans to make it to the stadium. If that isn’t enough then the Chi-Town’s own Barbie will be taking court against her rival Caitlin Clark.
Since Clark and Reese have been drafted into the NBA, there are growing murmurs of their rivalry. So much so that every Reese-Clark clash is special. Naturally so, on the one hand, Reese has gotten the title of double-double Barbie after surprising all with her points and rebounds, on the other, Clark too has broken quite many records, one of the most recent ones being when she surpassed Rhyne Howard’s beyond the arc record by a rookie after she rushed to 88 three-pointers against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
Naturally, Barbie Night coupled with the fourth clash of the season between Reese and Clark has attracted a lot of crowds, where the highest ticket at Ticket Master is priced around $5000. Meanwhile, on StubHub, the tickets are reselling for as much as $50,345, surpassing the prices from Jordan’s legendary night.

It started when Jordan announced his decision to retire after helping the Chicago Bulls clinch three Championship titles between 1991-93. Post that the viewers lost their interest in the Chicago-based franchise and even the NBA had to suffer bumps as the average viewership declined. Hence, when Jordan announced his decision to make a comeback to the sport, everyone looked forward to it.
One of his most popular games during his return in 1995 was against the New York Knicks where he renewed the rivalry. Jordan hit 55 points that night and helped the Bulls win the game by a close 113-111 win. Considering the neck-to-neck competition and the high score, it was an offensive treat for the fans. But now, Clark and Reese with their rivalry game have surpassed Jordan’s return game as the tickets are on resale for around $50, 345.
And much like Jordan, hopefully, Clark won’t disappoint her fans. She might turn things in her favor in what is expected to be Reese’s Barbie Night and perhaps, these high-scoring thrillers are what the spectators need at this time.
