Ever since Chicago Sky star Angel Reese was selected as the No. 7 pick in the WNBA Draft, she has been a sensation. Although her rookie year ended abruptly due to a hairline fracture in her left wrist, she still managed to lead the league in rebounding. As one of the faces of the WNBA, it was no surprise that Chicago chose her to represent them—and she delivered.

The former LSU superstar stunned in an all-pink business Barbie-inspired outfit for the 2025 WNBA Draft Lottery. Reese was one of four team representatives, joined by Aaliyah Edwards of the Washington Mystics, Rickea Jackson of the Los Angeles Sparks, and Maddy Siegrist of the Dallas Wings. But the draft lottery wasn’t the only event she graced.

The Chi-town Barbie, rocking her glamorous pink suit, also joined forces with ESPN analyst Andraya Carter. “Angel Reese, the seventh overall pick in the 2024 draft, averaged 13 points and 13 rebounds en route to the greatest rebounding season this league has ever seen. She broke league records in multiple categories,” Carter introduced during the live segment.

While Carter’s introduction was compelling, it wasn’t the conversation that went viral—it was Reese’s expressions. As Carter spoke, the Chicago Sky standout seemed to have an unreadable expression, blank, when her records were mentioned, sparking widespread speculation.

Was Reese showing disinterest, or was she simply lost in thought? Whatever the case, her expressions entertained fans and lit up the internet.

Here’s what fans had to say:

“Yesssss, I can tell Angel ain’t having it,” wrote one user. Known as the fastest player in WNBA history to achieve 20 career double-doubles, Reese was assumed to be unimpressed or simply not in the mood for conversation even when the record was brought up.

Another fan commented, “Her face is killing me, omg.” The moment stirred even more interest as it followed the announcement of the Rookie of the Year title and Carter had a suggestion following the results. Caitlin Clark won the honor with 66 votes, leaving just one voter who picked Reese.

“Angel’s face when Andraya is talking to her… She does not fw her,” another user speculated. The controversy escalated when the ESPN analyst called for more transparency in WNBA voting, suggesting that the lone voter who chose Reese should explain their decision. “If you were the person who had that one vote, you should be able to stand on it, and we should know who you are,” Carter had said.

As expected, Carter’s comments divided fans. While some agreed with her, others criticized her stance. Since then, Carter has often been perceived as a member of ‘Clark’s fan club,’ with accusations that she overlooks Reese’s achievements. But whatever the equation between the two, the drop in Reese’s expression was clear for her fans.

“the way her smile dropped too FUCKDJKDJX,” one expressed. Another believed that the mention of her records brought some sour memories. “she remembers everyone that has doubted her.”

One plainly added, “She’s so funny,” referring to Reese’s expressive reactions. Well, the 22-year-old finished her rookie year campaign with one of the best rebounding seasons of the league, recording 446 rebounds — most in a single season until A’ja Wilson broke it after Reese injured her wrist — and averaging 13.1, the best in the league, while also holding the double-double streak.
