The unapologetically herself Angel Reese has always been about her team. Whether you look at her games in Baton Rouge or Chicago, her personal stats are rarely her priority. Hence, when it came to sharing the same values with a group of young girls dreaming of being in her position someday, the Chi-Town Barbie leaped at the opportunity as gracefully as ever.
Yesterday, Angel Reese surprised the Trinity Girls Basketball’s Takeover group during their practice. Summer on X posted the clip, captioning the tweet, “Angel Reese being Angel Reese. #skytown #WNBA” When the talented hooper stood in front of the future generation looking up at her, she could not help but talk about her own such days. She reminisced about her younger days and shared a page from her personal story.
Reese said, “I know how it was when I was younger. I used to look up to people. What’s it like and what it looks like to be one of the girls that everybody looks up to. Sometimes it’s like I can’t make any mistakes or what I don’t want them to do. So, I gotta watch what I do and stuff like that. But it’s good.” Indeed, the 22-year-old has seen tough days. She has previously opened up about how she made it her focus to get a scholarship so her single mother could send her to be the basketball player she is today.

The Bayou Barbie is one of the young athletes, along with Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink who have impacted many basketball enthusiasts already. These include not just girls and women, but also young boys and men. Hence, knowing that she has eyes of the world on her every step, the Sky rookie continues to be someone that everyone can look up to.
Angel Reese and her ultimate advice on sportsmanship
Hardly anyone would question how the double-double queen has made the WNBA much more popular. She brought the fans from Maryland and LSU to the professional league to help it grow. But one thing even she is proud of is how she is pushing young girls to be their best selves. So far, the rookie has proven that she can indeed make the most of her 24 hours, maximizing it to utilize every opportunity.
The No. 5 Forward of the Sky talked about the importance of self-advocacy, empowerment, and health. Other helpful and inspirational words from the 2023 NCAA champion for the growing hoopers were about being a good teammate. The Baltimore native discussed the few non-basketball skills that can help young girls like them grow as players.
“It’s not always about playing. It’s about the team. When the team get a win, and if I’ve scored none or I’ve scored five, I was just as happy as if I scored 30. So, always be happy for your teammates, work hard, listen, and just keep going. Never give up,” Reese said.
