A lot has been said and assumed about Diana Taurasi’s take on Catlin Clark. The oldest player in the WNBA had ‘warned’ the rookie about how the professional leagues work, fanning some flames. However, after their exciting game on Sunday, it was clear that there was no bad blood between the WNBA and the NCAA’s all-time leading scorers. To prove the point that there was never any smoke, WNBA legend Sue Bird has brought a piece of evidence to light.
Sue Bird’s ‘Togethxr’ recently posted a series of videos to show what the 42-year-old Phoenix star had said about Caitlin Clark. They captioned the post, “Real ones know it’s always been love 🤝” The original video of ‘The Sue Bird and the Diana Taurasi Show’ is from one year ago. Then, the two WNBA megastars reviewed some of the No. 22’s plays from her time in Iowa.
In the clip, Taurasi says, “This is our first-born Caitlin Clark. As you can see, she has the passing ability of Shoshana Bird, she has the pull up, she has long-distance range like middle linebacker Taurasi. And she has the swaggy competitiveness of both of us! This is our love child born in the internet era!” She later also adds, “I mean, she must be really good. She’s two of us.”

Later, the videos show both Caitlin Clark and Taurasi compliment each other after the game yesterday. There is also a photo of the two hugging before the game and laughing about something during the game. Interestingly, this is not the only time that the 4x WNBA champ came to help her former UConn teammate.

Everyone is well-versed with the Mercury star’s ‘infamous jibe’ at the Hawkeye sensation. Specifically, the one where she said, “You may look like a superhuman playing against some 18-year-olds but you’re going to come play with some grown women.” Then, Taurasi ended her remarks by saying, “Reality is coming.” However, she also pointed out that Caitlin Clark has stood out of every storm that comes her way and will continue to do that.
Unfortunately, only her prior comments became viral as everyone stood against the GOAT. Later, Sue Bird explained what the Phoenix guard meant. Vanshay Murdock tweeted the clip on his official X account where the 5x Olympic gold medalist says, “Nobody was questioning Caitlin’s ability. No one was questioning Caitlin’s popularity and what she’s done for the sport. How could you? I think at the end of the day, it’s just competitive athletes talking about what they’ve already been through. So, that was kind of the unfortunate part of it.”
She also added that according to her, Taurasi saying that a college player will have to adjust to the professional league was crazy. But at the end of the day, we did see Caitlin Clark hugging it out with not just the GOAT but also Brittney Griner and other Mercury stars. In fact, the rookie getting a standing ovation as she walked out of the Footprint Arena after the win only proved her impact.
