Certainly, fans aren’t amused with the Fever’s second loss on the trot. Seemingly, their dispirited show at the Climate Pledge Arena resulting in an 88-79 loss has their supporters wanting them to put up better chemistry within the team. As for the rookie Caitlin Clark, she seems to agree with this point to some extent. Perhaps this is the reason why the 6-foot guard wishes to bond again with her former Iowa teammate Kate Martin.

The recent interaction of the NCAA Division 1 all-time leading scorer with the media further validates the aforementioned theory. When asked to reflect on her relationship with Martin even after college, Clark said, “She’s somebody I text every single day. I think just being there for one another. Just being a listening ear. It’s not like we’re coaching one another. It’s just more like she’s one of my best friends.”

Earlier, Martin has expressed that there are not many people with whom she can establish an understanding. Clark reiterated this point and further added that only former Iowa teammates like Megan Gustafson and Monika Czinano can equate to what they are feeling.

Then, she expressed her delight at what Kate Martin was able to accomplish and put forth a special desire. “I’m just really happy for her. She’s been doing great and, honestly, I still wish she was my teammate.” Clark added while concluding her thoughts.

Clark’s comments come just days after Martin extended a similar gesture towards the 2× USBWA National Player of the Year.

Kate Martin’s “unrealistic” take on people’s expectations of Caitlin Clark

Not so long ago, the talented Las Vegas rookie came out in defense of her former Iowa teammate. In an interview with Fox5 News, she lauded Clark’s current performances and conveyed that the backlash she receives is unjustified.

Martin said, “Caitlin is phenomenal, and she is having a great rookie season. I think people are really hard on her and expecting her to be perfect. That’s unrealistic, right?”

In addition to this, she also showcased her delight regarding the current career state of both, and how they are both going through this phase together. Martin added, “We’re both living out our dreams right now. We both always wanted to get to this point and we’re doing that right now. So, we’re just really grateful that we’re in this position. It’s pretty cool to experience that with your best friend.”

It’s really encouraging for their fans to see their bond even in separate franchises. While both of them have had their fair share of success as pros, their supporters would miss their college chemistry. Nonetheless, it is quite an enthralling experience as well to see them on opposite sides.
