Every athlete needs something extra. Despite all calculations, preparations, and strategies- basketball is uncertain. Sometimes one can win by a blowout margin, at others the same team can lay bare in the depths of despair. Hence, athletes sometimes label the extra as magic, X factor, or even superstition. Like most players, the Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston too has two beliefs that she follows on the day of every game. And she recently revealed the same through a social media post on X.
Boston divulged that she likes to wear a hoop earring on the day of the game. Plus, she doesn’t also don the jersey she uses during the match before game time. These are the two rituals that contribute to being the extra in her gameplay. “I always wear my hoop earring and I never wear my jersey until game time,” Boston posted on X.

Notably, Boston wears the seven-number jersey and plies her trade as a forward for the Indiana Fever. She was the first-round pick in the WNBA 2023 season by the Indiana Fever. She has been performing exceptionally well since the onset of the WNBA life. In her first season, Boston played 40 games and started in all of them. She added 14.5 points per game with 8.4 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists. She furthermore had a 57.8% field goal percentage and 74.5% free throw percentage.
In the current season, she has been supporting the rookie Caitlin Clark with equal zest and enthusiasm. She has scored 13.3 points per game with 8.4 rebounds per game and 2.7 assists. Thus, despite the Fever not having a great season, it has been a success on a personal level for Boston. For her exceptional display, Boston has also made it to the 12-woman squad of the All-Star WNBA team.
What’s next for Aliyah Boston?
Boston will be plying her trade for the Fever in their game against the New York Liberty. The Fever have won 8 games but lost 13. However, they are far better than where they were in the last season. Boston most probably will also get a chance to play for the All-Stars and make her case for the Paris Olympics stronger by competing against Team USA.
Notably, Boston had a small brush with the Olympics when she brought home a gold medal during the Youth Olympics games in Argentina, in 2018. Therefore, she needs to step up to the moment and display Team USA what she is made up of.
