Most people might think that Wilson is of African-American origin. And they are not wrong. The Las Vegas Aces’ center was born on August 8, 1996, in Columbia, South Carolina, in the United States. However, what most people don’t know is that her full name is A’ja Riyadh Wilson. Some may think that she has a family in the Middle East, but that’s not the case. There’s a whole backstory to the name, and that is her maternal aunt was deployed in Saudi Arabia as she was a part of Operation Desert Storm. But who are her parents?

They are Eva Rakes Wilson and Roscoe C. Wilson Jr. and it must be noted that her mother has a pretty solid resume. She is the executive director of the A’ja Wilson Foundation and Burnt Wax Candle Company. Along with this, she is also the CEO of the company “Pursenally Yours by Eva“. However, Wilson’s mother’s prowess doesn’t end here. She was also a court stenographer for the Richland County School District 1 in Columbia, South Carolina.

However, Wilson’s father’s resume was no less impressive. It was for him that Wilson had developed a passion for basketball. Roscoe C. Wilson Jr. is a former standout of Benedict College and has earned degrees in the courses of physical education and biology. He was the first Benedict College student to play professional basketball in Europe for a decade. “Without him putting that basketball in my hand, there would be no A’ja Wilson,” said A’ja Wilson in 2016 (as per Gamecocks). Both of Wilson’s parents have American citizenship from the beginning, thus even solidifying A’ja Wilosn’s American ethnicity.

A’ja Wilson’s journey to becoming a WNBA superstar has been nothing short of remarkable. Her exceptional talent, coupled with her unwavering determination, has propelled her to the top of the basketball world. However, her ethnicity has never been an issue for her and we can see that from her recent achievements.

The Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has etched her name into the WNBA history books once again. But How? In a dominant performance against the Seattle Storm, Wilson shattered the single-season rebounding record previously held by Angel Reese, who plays as a forward for Chicago Skies.

With her impressive rebounding skills, Wilson has consistently dominated the paint. During the match between the Las Vegas Aces and the Seattle Storm, the 27-year-old made seven rebounds that helped her team to win (85-72). This push helped her to get 451 overall this season, breaking Reese’s record of 446 a season. However, this isn’t the only record that she has created. The young center is also the first player in WNBA’s history to score 1000 points.
