The Las Vegas Aces general manager Natalie Williams, as per the Aces official site, had broken the news of re-signing point guard Sydney Colson on February 1. She had expressed her excitement in getting Colson “back in our Aces camp.” With countless opinions swirling about, the Las Vegas Aces leader A’ja Wilson has chipped in using a tad bit of humor.

Wilson shared the post of Colson re-signing with the defending champions on her Instagram story on Thursday. She chimed in with a wisecrack that seemed to catch the wit of a lot of fans.

The post had a picture of Colson hugging the championship trophy with her jersey number 51 highlighted in gray. Sharing the post, Wilson wrote “I can’t stand when front offices do these things and don’t tell me … cause who agreed to this …” Wilson’s unique humor brought a lot of delight to fans and reminded them of the bond stalwarts share.

Meanwhile, Aces general manager Williams had previously gone ahead in praising Colson for being “a true pro.” Colson too didn’t hold back her emotions and overtly stated that she was “excited to re-sign with the Aces because I love this organization and I truly feel like we’re a team in every sense of the word.” She didn’t shy away from accepting that “the days of giving these quotes are limited. But until that day comes, I’m all in!”

This marked Colson’s third stint with the franchise, the first being when the 2x NCAA Champions were based out of San Antonio. The 34-year-old had shown her brilliance during Game 4 of the 2023 WNBA Finals when her teammates were injured. She plied her trade for 15 minutes and was seen donning a key defensive role for the team.

The Aces ultimately won the game by a 70-69 margin. Colson’s re-signing provides the Aces with the necessary bench strength and this season too fans would expect her to unleash her on-court exploits. And it is not far when we will watch the Aces in action again.

When can we see Colson in action?

As per reports, the WNBA 2024 will start from May 14 and the Aces will be battling it out against the Phoenix Mercury during the first game. While Wilson had a contract extension for 2024, their other point guard Chelsea Gray is yet to make a call on her return. She was injured during the 2023 season and it remains to be seen if she is completely fit to proceed ahead this year. Meanwhile, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young will go ahead with the Aces.
