Is A'ja Wilson's playful challenge to Dorothy Hayes the kind of fun we need more of in sports?

Las Vegas kick-started the playoffs with a bang as they took over Seattle with a 78-67 win. But this win didn’t come easy as they had to put up a defensive front to limit the Storm from scoring. Bringing up her MVP style, A’ja Wilson scored 21 points, to which Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young added 16 and 12 points, respectively. However, it was Tiffany Hayes who came off the bench and stole the show. This fueled A’ja Wilson to put forward a demand for her mother, Dorothy.

She made 8-of-12 field goals, 2-of-3 beyond the 3-point line. Plus, she made 2 free throws. In the postgame interview, Wilson expressed her joy of having Hayes’ mother watching her daughter in action and said, “I remember her saying that her mom’s never flown and she was just trying to figure out when she could be able to come out here. I’m so glad that she was able to come out here to see her daughter really shine bright under these bright lights because that’s what it’s truly all about.”

Further, Wilson described the boost in confidence they get when having their family present in the audience and watching them play. It is the major reason why they play, i.e. to make them proud, and called it a “big moment” for Hayes that her mother had flown to watch her play.

That’s why she made the uplifting demand for Dorothy and said during the postgame interview, “I mean she needs to come and sit in our locker room every single day.” This came after Hayes’ remarkable 20-point display in the game. Her game truly exemplified how it’s one thing to get a win, but doing that in front of one’s family makes it 100 times better.

Being with the Aces, Tiffany Hayes is turning out to be a good fit. Let’s see how.

Tiffany Hayes becoming a focal point for the Aces

Bonded well with the Aces now, Tiffany Hayes can easily reel her teammates in and get them going. Her vibrant energy picks up the pace and has been named, as Wilson puts it, “the X-factor” for the team. “When it comes to just when we need anything whether it’s a stop whether it’s energy whether it’s a bucket uh we turn to Tiff and she understands that,” Wilson reasoned.

Being in the league for over a decade, Tiffany Hayes has brought boatloads of experience to the Aces. Although, there are several vets present on their roster, including Alysha Clark, Sydney Colson, Chelsea Gray, and Kiah Stokes, however, having Hayes in their corner has added a good amount of depth to the team.
