A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart. The dream duo for Team USA. And this has been the case so far in the Paris Olympics with both these stalwarts providing a premium exhibition of their respective skills. But, in the near future what if the fans get to see both of them representing the same franchise? How will this collaboration shape the league? To get a clearer picture, let’s hear what SB nation’s popular voice Noa Dalzell has to say in this regard.

As it turns out, Dalzell was the latest guest Locked On Women’s Basketball podcast alongside sports journalist Jackie Powell. Speaking about how the Olympic campaign is spanning out so far for Team USA, she spared a thought or two about the combination of WNBA rivals A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart.

She said, “Between A’ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart, it just feels unfair to have them both share the frontcourt. It makes me think about, what if one day they teamed up for the WNBA, what that would do to the league. It will probably be one of those moments that ruins sports.”

Both these athletes are the frontrunners for the MVP race in the WNBA this season. And, having them on the same squad will give any team a huge upper hand as currently they are scoring almost 60% of the total points for Team USA. And something similar is happening in the WNBA as well. So far, both of them have a combined a total of 1098 points in the league. “The American depth. It’s just so hard to combat,” Dalzell further added.

While Wilson’s chemistry with Stewart is working wonders for Team USA, there is still one thing that she needs to ‘keep in check’ in her upcoming games.

A’ja Wilson advised to keep her emotions in check

Team USA’s encounter against Belgium can probably be termed as a road fixture. Probably because of the fact that the Belgian border is about 20 miles from the venue Stade Pierre Mauroy. In addition to this, its capital Brussels stands at a distance of 60 miles. As a result, the support for the ‘Belgian Cats’ was immense. Witnessing the hostility, A’ja Wilson’s passion for the game took a serious hike.

However, the 2023 WNBA Finals MVP was asked to get a lid on it by the officials. Expressing more about this experience, she said, “I need to, get my emotions in check (he said), and I think that just heightened my emotions even more because I’m like, ‘How are you going to tell me at my job that I can’t show emotion, passion?'”.

But, soon after A’ja Wilson did follow the instructions. “So I keep my cool. I continue being me. I keep my cool by understanding who I am and who I have around me, and don’t look back and just keep going”, she further added.
