Aliyah Boston or Caitlin Clark—who's the real future face of the WNBA?

It’s a Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston show for the Indiana Fever once again! Many would say that the two back-to-back first-overall picks are the up-and-coming duo of the WNBA. And they would not be far from the truth. Previously, the two got compared to the legendary pair of Brittney Griner and Diana Taurasi, and they were more than happy to take the praise. But seeing their off-court chemistry also shows how the relationship between the two is building over time as the former Gamecock responds for her during interviews.

In Indiana’s post-game press conference, a reporter asked Caitlin Clark about her WNBA record of 19 assists. While the rookie only laughed at the question of explaining her feelings, the forward answered for her. “She’s going to say it means nothing. I think it’s pretty cool. That’s pretty cool, so, sorry,” Boston told the reporter.

Caitlin Clark laughed at the fact and said, “I just try to set my teammates up for success. I think at times I can almost overpass. There probably could have been a few times where instead of passing, that leads to turnover that I may have, I can probably shoot the ball. Especially with AB. I’m just looking to set her up so much. My eyes are always on our post players, whether that’s Lys or whether that’s AB or whoever’s in the game at the time.”

Funny enough, Aliyah Boston reacted like this because when Caitlin Clark left Sue Bird behind a few games back in all-time rookie assists, the No. 22 simply said that she would forget it and that her team was the reason why it happened.

The 6-ft point guard also discussed how her 3-pointers did not fall but the team’s 62 points in the paint were quite an achievement according to her. As for her WNBA record, let us look at her performance.

The Indiana Fever is truly having a great season after years of struggle. Primarily, it is their rookie who is raining threes and dimes on the floor. The team started the 28th WNBA season poorly due to one of the toughest schedules. After the first 10 games, they had a 2-8 record, where they even played multiple back-to-back games. However, the team has made a huge turnaround.

Have an interesting take?

In the last 10 games, Caitlin Clark has shown why she is one of the best playmakers in the league right now. She has dished out 94 assists. These account for at least 188 points in total. She has also contributed 185 points through her own shots. In last night’s game, she contributed 66 points total. These came from a stat line of 24 points and a career-high 19 assists.

She is now leading all the rookies in points per game, assists per game, and steals. She has also played the third-most minutes in the entire league. We will now see Caitlin Clark alongside Angel Reese on the All-Star team next. Then, the WNBA regular season will be taking a month-long break due to the Olympics. But surely, the Fever rookie will make and break a lot more records. As for her compliment-receiving skills, we can’t say if she will take them personally and will remain the “humble” rookie.
