The defending champions are in the house. Back-to-back WNBA title holders locked horns against the Phoenix Mercury in their regular season opener. However, before they could take the court, A’ja Wilson and Co. went through a special experience.

The Aces received their championship rings along with unveiling their WNBA championship banner. As much as center A’ja Wilson was stunned upon receiving her massive and glittering ring, she was also overly spellbound by what followed. Seemingly, Wilson was asked to address the sold-out crowd. As soon as her name was announced, the Michelob ULTRA Arena was echoing with MVP chants that had the No.22 completely overwhelmed. Wilson even lifted her arm to showcase the goosebumps she felt over the response.

When she finally got a chance to speak, A’ja said, “You guys helped us win this championship. We’re so grateful to have a fanbase that is supportive of us. We’re blessed to be in this situation. We worked our butts off to get to this point, so we just want to say thank you. And once again, we blinging”

The Las Vegas Aces will be trying to repeat what the Houston Comets accomplished during 1997-2000 and win three WNBA championships in a row. As a result, they will become only the second franchise ever to achieve this feat. Currently, their second consecutive reign puts them alongside the Los Angeles Sparks who did it in 2001-02.

Anyhow, there were some interesting facts about the rings that these players receive from the WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.
