The NCAA sent two of the most entertaining, attention-grabbing, and talented players to the WNBA this year. While Caitlin Clark has become the scoring and assist master, Angel Reese has become the double-double queen. Even though they have now left college basketball behind, seems like they are not done with sweeping the awards there. After the 2x National Player of the Year received her back-to-back Honda Trophy, Chicago’s rookie too grabbed one elite award.

Angel Reese recently shared an achievement with her 3.5 million followers on Instagram. LSU women’s basketball announced that she is the BET Sportswoman of the Year. Reese captioned her story, “BACK 2 BACK” and LSU’s official Instagram page added, “Stay winning” for their former Lady Tiger. The honor is awarded to the best and most successful female athlete of the previous year.

The Baltimore native triumphed over the likes of 4x Olympics Gold medallist Simone Biles, 2x WNBA champion A’ja Wilson, tennis superstars Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka, and track and field athlete and LSU alum Sha’Carri Richardson. Moreover, her peers from the NCAA landscape, Flau’jae Johnson and JuJu Watkins, also could not grab hold of this award.

This news came just days after Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese’s NCAA arch nemesis, received her second consecutive Honda Trophy Award. This award is given to the NCAA’s top women athletes. Interestingly, through this, the Fever rookie joined her idol, Maya Moore, as the only two players for this consecutive honor. Looking at these two rookies, they are certainly having a great year and we are only midway through the 2024 WNBA season. Reese followed up the BET win by surpassing a WNBA icon on the court.

On her birthday, Angel Reese announced that she would be maximizing her 24 hours by doing everything she could. Certainly, leaving the top sportswomen counts in that direction. However, how Reese has been thriving in Chicago proves that she is grinding for it all. Despite her loss to the 2024 Commissioner’s Cup champs Minnesota tonight, the rookie has left the WNBA legend Candace Parker behind with ten consecutive double-doubles in a single season, claiming the WNBA record.

After her game tonight, Angel Reese quickly took it to her social media accounts to show her excitement. She wrote on her X, “Thank you BET for Sportswomen of the Year!”

There is no denying that she is one of the most watched hoopers today. Moreover, many would even say that the Rookie of the Year award is a race between just Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Certainly, their popularity is pushing the entire topic. No matter what, we do know that Reese has become an inseparable part of the Sky and will continue to soar high as the season continues.
