The country connection runs deep when Dawn Staley is at the center of it. Adding Beyonce to the mix will only add more to the crazy quotient. The South Carolina Gamecocks head coach has never backed down from showing her adoration for the pop star. Reversibly, the singer has also reciprocated the love. And even when the choice came to choosing herself over Queen Bey, Staley had one simple answer.

Recently, Dawn Staley notified on X that she was in Chicago to support Kamala Harris. The coach’s unexpected presence took precedence for a fan over Beyonce, who was reported but not confirmed to be a surprise performer hours before Harris would take the stage, causing a hubbub among the spectators.

The reply was enough for the reigning National Champion head coach to spark a conversation on the friendly and peppy basketball icon. The X user wrote, “Not coach being the Surprise Guest; I’ll take Coach over Beyoncé anytime!!!”

While it was still a compliment, Staley did not want to take away the throne from Queen Bey.

She replied back to the fan admitting, “I ain’t taking me  over @Beyonce no day 🤣🤣🤣” Clearly, the Hall of Famer is bowing down to Beyonce. Seemingly, their connection goes back to the 2023-24 championship tourney.

Just a few days after grabbing her third title with the Gamecocks, she received another lovely surprise. Of course, from none other than Beyonce.

Then, Dawn Staley received flowers, goodies, and a letter from Queen Bey. It read, “To Coach Staley and the entire South Carolina Gamecocks, me and my family watched your games and cheered you on through the entire season. I am so proud of you, all of my love.” To this, the Philly native could just show gratitude and in the best way according to her, “This deserves a video thank you.”

She showed her social followers the merch and read aloud the note from the pop star. Closing the video, she asked someone to hit the record which played the singer’s “Texas Hold ’em” from the Cowboy Carter album. She also added, “Bey, we appreciate you. We are honored to wear your gear.” The tees beside her had ‘Always been country’ written on them which Staley was more than happy to rep.
