Sue Bird's Adele rumor—proof that even legends can be fooled?

Having made the most of the Olympics, Sue Bird now relishes those good times as she shares interesting insights and anecdotes of the time when she used to participate in the quadrennial event and the fascinating experience she had off the court. And recently, Sue Bird shared one such incident of the time when she won her third Olympic gold medal and how she fell for a fake piece of news.

Bringing some old memories back, Bird admitted having believed that the British pop singer Adele was going to make an appearance at the 2012 London Olympics Closing Ceremony. “When I think back on all of my Olympic experiences, opening ceremonies definitely sticks out, every single one of them…In London, I watched the closing on TV, and I sat there the entire time, because there was a rumor Adele was going to be performing at the end, and I waited, and I waited, and I waited and she never fu****g showed or she was never meant to be there,” Bird said, via A Touch More podcast.

Out of the 750 million spectators tuned in worldwide, Bird was one of them who had her eyes glued to the screen to watch the event. As it turns out, amidst performances from Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Burton, etc., the 5x Olympian never caught the sight of the Rolling in the Deep star. Adele performing at the closing ceremony was, however, a prominent rumor prior to the event.
