Can Caitlin Clark's new Fever friendships ever match the magic of her Iowa Hawkeyes days?

Caitlin Clark’s journey from the Iowa Hawkeyes to Indiana Fever, both on and off the court, has often hit the headlines. Back in Iowa, CC was known for her close-knit friendship with Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, bonds that helped drive the Hawkeyes to success. Fans wondered if those deep connections would transfer to the pros, and well, it did. But along the way, Clark also grew close to her Fever teammates. One of the most fun moments came when Clark and Lexie Hull went viral for a TikTok video reviewing drinks from their local café, Swig.

The pair got hooked up with a sweet deal when Swig’s owner promised them ‘golden mugs,’ which meant free refills every time they stopped by. Now, the Fever shooting guard has posted another TikTok showing her and Clark unboxing their massive golden tumblers.

Hull even joked in the video, “We got our golden mugs… they’re ginormous,” holding up the mug next to her head for comparison before chatting about their drink orders. The duo ended the video with a promise to return.

While the 2024 ROTY was enjoying her off-season with her Fever teammate, her longtime pals Marshall and Martin recently had a heartwarming reunion of their own. The two former Hawkeyes surprised Iowa junior Jada Gyamfi by showing up at her apartment, leaving her teary-eyed with joy.

The emotional moment was captured in a TikTok video posted by Marshall, featuring meeting Martin and finally knocking on Gyamfi’s door. But without Clark’s presence, something felt missing. Despite their separate and busy lives, the trio’s bond remains strong. The three are often seen cheering each other on through social media. Should we get used to the 22-year-old always remaining the missing piece in the Iowa reunion?

Have an interesting take?

As much as Iowa fans miss the Clark-Martin-Marshall trio, it’s clear that Clark is finding her groove with her Fever teammates. Her connection with Lexie Hull, in particular, is blossoming into a full-on friendship, and it’s starting to reflect in their on-court chemistry. They grew closer, especially after Hull, Clark, and Katie Lou Samuelson took a beach vacation together during the WNBA Olympic break.

On the trip, the Fever point guard kept everyone entertained with her mischievous antics. Hull even told USA Today Sports, “She loves to stir up some trouble, that’s for sure. If you need a laugh, she’ll get it done for you.” The former Iowa star guard has also been seen growing close to other Fever teammates like Aliyah Boston, who is affectionately referred to as her ‘guard’ on social media.

It’s because Boston was the one calming Clark down during her run-ins with the referees. And let’s not forget the video that saw the 2024 WNBA All-Star sharing a fun handshake with her teammates. Indeed, the Fever’s growing camaraderie was a game-changer for their season, helping them secure a spot in the WNBA playoffs for the first time since 2016.
