Lewis Hamilton is officially not part of the Mercedes family anymore. Bidding an emotional farewell at the Abu Dhabi GP, the last “It’s hammer time!” call by his race engineer truly clicked it in for him, that the last 12 years were really coming to an end. Aside from a host of Hollywood stars cheering him on in the audience, there were a couple of Angel Reeses present on the sidelines. Not just the WNBA star, but her mom as well!

The Chicago Sky player has been resting after her rookie W season to prepare for Unrivaled in January. From football to fashion shows, Reese has been frequenting sports games ever since her successful wrist surgery. And the latest to be graced by her presence is the F1 scene 7000 miles away from her hometown of Baltimore.

Taking to Instagram to post her Abu Dhabi adventures, the Sky forward also posted a selfie with her mom, amid a flurry of posts with the likes of Taraji P. Henson and Terry Crews.

Known for her classy outfits as much as her skills on the court, Reese was sporting a plain white tee, beige pants, and a baby pink long coat. Of course, given the weather, it was not warm! Decked out in sunglasses, Reese also sported golden jewelry on her wrists and neck, with a matching bag and white sneakers. Her mom was dressed similarly with a white t-shirt and a floral kaftan-type coat, sunglasses on her face.

While Angel Reese Sr., who also pursued a professional basketball career in Luxembourg, has not been frequently accompanying her daughter in the offseason, Lewis Hamilton in his last Mercedes race was too big of an event to miss.

The Sky player also got to meet some Hollywood A-listers, and Henson even told her, “I am so proud of you. Keep doing what you do. You are a force to be reckoned with, in so many ways. And not just on the court, babe. Just in life, you’re a winner.”

What a proud moment for the Maryland native, who inherited not just her name from her mom but her athleticism as well. And Reese is going to get the chance to do exactly what Henson is proud of with the Unrivaled League’s tipoff coming up soon.

Angel Reese only sees pros and no cons for playing in Unrivaled

Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier began the upstart league as a way to help WNBA players avoid going overseas in the offseason. It was a stone killing two birds – players could stay with their families in the same country during the holiday season and also stay in shape with the 3×3 format, focusing on individual skills. As an added bonus, the salary is not bad either. And Angel Reese is excited to play exactly because of these reasons.

“For one I’m staying in the States, I don’t have to go overseas,” Reese told WAE. “I’m making 6 figures, I’m living in Miami during my off-season. I’m playing with 34 of some of the best WNBA players, being able to get better. Some of the best coaches, we got T-Spoon, we got Phil, we’ve got a lot of great coaches there.”

Her main goal? “I’m excited to like really dial in and get better. Obviously, the games are going to be cool and fun, but I just want to learn from the vets and stuff.”

Set to be part of the Rose Basketball Club, Angel Reese will be teammates with Chelsea Gray, Kahleah Cooper, Brittney Sykes, Lexie Hull, and Azura Stevens. Their coach will be Nola Henry and the tip-off is on 17th Jan. The WNBA season might still be a few months away but exciting times are ahead for not just Reese but hoops fans too!
