The Sin City has been planning the rumbling Las Vegas GP for some time now. And how is it possible that Vegas’ own Aces don’t reach the event? The WNBA offseason doesn’t mean overseas playing for everyone. Some, like Kelsey Plum, are taking a break from basketball and exploring off-court interests to replenish their energy. Admittedly, like Caitlin Clark and golf, Plum has found her interest in another sport, but it doesn’t involve a ball. Rather, it’s motorsports!
Sin City is currently hosting the Las Vegas GP, and although all anyone can talk about is Ferrari teammates Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz quarreling, Plum was there for some fun. A motorsports fan, the Aces player was collaborating with Google to promote their mobile game, Hot Lap League: Racing Mania! “@teampixel really hooked it up with the @mclaren Hot Lap at the F1 Las Vegas GP! What an experience! 😝 #TeamPixel” Plum captioned the post.
The carousel began with an adrenaline-filled video of her taking a hot lap around the track and sharing a before and after clip of her experience. The video begins with a composed Kelsey Plum, her hair neatly smoothed and her face excited. Then it goes on to show her reactions during the lap, with McLaren’s Pato O’Ward in the driver’s seat. A lot of the video subtitles read [Excited Screaming], which should give away exactly how the LV Aces player was feeling at the moment!

Finishing the hot lap in the McLaren Artura, costing up to $280,000, Plum gets out on shaky legs and helmet hair, saying, “I don’t know what just happened.” The rest of the post includes pictures from the experience, including a few from inside the car and another video describing her thrilling lap.
Although it might seem like a scary ride, Plum actually looked animated after the adventure ended. An apparent motorsports fan, the Aces guard was also present at the NASCAR Xfinity Series Zip Buy Now, Pay Later 250 race at Sonoma Raceway on June 8. Also serving as the Grand Marshal, her racing-themed outfit caught eyeballs – a checkered jacket, black top, and white skirt.
Safe to say, this W offseason will see Plum exploring her non-basketball interests. In fact, she just celebrated a huge milestone in one of them!
Kelsey Plum’s cigar line’s achievement earns Steph Curry’s nod
When the Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA championship in 2022, Kelsey Plum smoked a cigar for the first time. The picture went viral, she did it again in 2023, and her love for them inspired her to start her own signature line for the “special tradition.” The back-to-back WNBA champion released her collaboration with KINGMAKERS back in May this year to become the only female athlete to have a signature cigar line.

Talking about the collaboration, the guard said, “KINGMAKERS has been an amazing partner and has created a line of cigars that I absolutely love, and that are perfect for celebrating a special occasion. I’ve been fortunate to have had the chance to indulge in a celebratory smoke each of the last two seasons and we’ll be doing everything we can this year to go for three in a row. Hopefully, we’ll have a reason to light up once again, this time with my own signature line.”
Although she was not able to recreate the moment as the Aces dropped out of the playoffs before reaching the Finals, Plum did have something else to celebrate.
“My cigar, now sold in lounges,” the 30-year-old wrote on Instagram just four days ago. “If you would have told me that a couple years ago when I smoked my first cigar in this same lounge, I would have laughed. Your life can look a lot different in a short time in the best way.”

Not only did fellow WNBA players congratulate her, but Steph Curry also took to the comment section to post a bunch of fire emojis. Previously, during the pre-sale bookings for the Cigar as well, Chef Curry did not stay behind in congratulating the WNBA star as he wrote, “Big time moves!!” While Plum’s hoops game is already a success, it looks like her off-court interests are gaining steam too!
