After months of patience, fans have finally gotten their first look at the A’Ones. The shoes, based on a pearl motif, are part of a groundbreaking contract extension that Wilson signed with Nike recently. They are the result of an extensive creative collaboration between A’ja Wilson and the footwear corporation. True to her nature, Wilson made sure that her loved ones got it as soon as they were unveiled. Of course, A’ja Wilson has her shoe!
In an Instagram post, Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley showed off a pair of A’Ones. “Let us all “A” for the A’ONEs!” The caption read. Wilson’s heartwarming gesture was an indication of how much she respected her collegiate coach. Coach Staley was a big influence on the Aces star and a big reason behind her success. Her unwavering belief in Wilson’s ability to play led both of them to a national title in 2017. But that’s not all.
Deion Sanders had high praise for the Gamecocks coach, calling her a ‘Shero’ in the comments section. This sign of respect from the former Super Bowl champion isn’t out of the blue, however. Coach Staley was recently seen rooting for the Colorado Buffaloes after their victory against Baylor in week 4. She praised Sanders and Travis Hunter unabashedly, even through criticism from fans.
