In what was easily the most absorbing Super Sunday game of NFL Week 8 action, two quarterbacks fought yard-for-yard while trying to stamp their authority. Sam Howell of the

Commanders and Jalen Hurts of the Eagles finished with 300+ yard games to help their teams put up a great fight on the day.

In the end, it was the fourth-quarter heroics of Jalen Hurts that helped the Eagles edge past the Commanders. The Eagles were trailing 14-3 at one stage. Yet they succeeded in launching a fightback thanks to a stunning display by Hurts.

Four touchdowns in 20 minutes!

The NFC East toppers reeled off four touchdowns in 20 mins (spread between quarters) to reverse a 3-14 deficit into a 31-24 lead. It ended at that, much to the relief of the Eagles’ coach, Nick Sirianni.

On a night that also belonged to Sam Howell, the Commanders began with a stunning touchdown by Terry McLaurin, who collected a 26-yard pass by Howell. Both teams ended with identical numbers for the night. Ironically, both teams ended with just over 6.5 yards per play.

Following the win, the Eagles shot up to 7-1 for the season. The last time the Eagles went 7-1 was in 2017. They finished the regular season 13-3 and went on to win the Super Bowl. Sirianni’s team now meets the hot Dallas Cowboys, whose offense has been a talking point this season. On the other hand, Magic Johnson’s Commanders have slipped to 3-5.

They will need to introspect how a good lead went away in minutes and plug the leaks. The team will head into next week’s battle against fellow strugglers, the Patriots.
