Undoubtedly RCB is the team of Avengers and Virat Kohli is the IRON MAN. The Avengers will look insipid in case of absence of either of the superheroes and so will be the Bangalore team without Virat Kohli. Following the injury that the Indian skipper suffered to during the third test of the recent Border-Gavaskar trophy, questions have cropped up for the availability of the RCB skipper. The Indian skipper was also forced to miss the fourth test due to injury and might also miss the first few matches of the season while playing for the franchise.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been one of the strongest team in the IPL but failed to bring glory to their name as they choked in penultimate stage. The IPL title favorites had been in a tremendous form in the previous edition where in they proved themselves to be the sole contenders for the title, only to lose to the debutantes Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. One of the prime reasons why RCB reached the finals was their skipper Virat Kohli. The Delhi born skipper had a dream run in IPL 2016 where he smashed 973 runs in 16 innings with a humongous average of 81,including 4 quickfire centuries. The skipper shattered the records as he became the only skipper to smash 4 centuries in IPL. He also holds the record of most runs in a single edition of IPL. He also went on to smash 38 huge sixes ,the highest in the season.
However, these numbers will not appear once again as the RCB skipper might not be available for the franchise during the early stages of the league. Replying to the questions on his fitness, Kohli said “It’s still a few weeks to go before I can be 100% on the field. But these things happen in your career. Got to take it in my stride and move forward”. However, one can still expect Kohli to join the RCB camp for the initial phases of the season as the RCB management are yet to give an official status on Kohli’s availability .The IPL season 10 starts off with the finalists of the previous edition facing each other on April 5.
