The Winter Olympics have given fans a view of the beautiful figure skating world. The 2022 Beijing Olympics saw the culmination of the rivalry between the best figure skaters in the world, i.e. Yuzuru Hanyu and Nathan Chen.

The rivalry between the Japanese figure skater and the American champion is not something unfamiliar. The two have gone head-to-head time and time again. It was Nathan Chen, however, who outdid himself and won the Gold Medal in Beijing.

Competition aside, the last day of the Olympics will see the highly awaited Figure Skating Gala, and fans are wondering if they will witness the two kings of Figure Skating here?

The Olympic Figure Skating Gala – 2022

The Olympic Figure Skating Gala, to be held as part of the closing ceremony, will feature all the 18 skaters (per NBC) who won medals in each of the disciplines at the Beijing Winter Olympics 2022. 40 skaters will grace the ice as they give one final performance before bowing out. The most awaited performance will be from Japan’s champion figure skater, Yuzuru Hanyu.

Yuzuru, who came into the Olympics as the popular Gold Medal choice, came 4th in the Men’s Figure Skating finals. This was heartbreaking for him and his fans. However, they will get another chance to see Hanyu performing his routine at the Gala.

The question here is, will Nathan Chen also grace the ice with his flawless performances? The answer is yes. Being one of the 18 champions, Nathan Chen will also be performing at the Gala. Chen will be a delight to watch as he skates through the ice with utmost ease.

The official list of performers at the Gala has been released, and it comprises several other talented skaters as well. While Yuzuru Hanyu will be performing at number 21, Nathan Chen is number 29.

Yuzuru Hanyu gears up for the Gala

Yuzuru Hanyu was recently spotted preparing for his Beijing Winter Olympics 2022 Figure Skating Gala performance. He was seen wearing matching Olympic caps with Jin Boyang, his fellow skater and friend.

Hanyu came 4th in the figure skating finals, while it was Nathan Chen who took home the Gold. However, Yuzuru Hanyu attempted the quadruple axel, or “4A,”. This is a jump that no skater has successfully landed in competition. Not even Chen.

Perhaps, during Sunday’s Figure Skating Gala, fans will get a glimpse of this trick by Hanyu.
