Now, why Dravid is the best option available for the job is:
1. Unlike the other team staff, he has thrived at the premier level which means players have utmost respect for him.2. He is quiet in the background more like Gary Kirsten and John Wright rather than all-out aggressive as Ravi Shastri and Greg Chappel.
3. He is calm and modest who will not take underestimate his opponents. It is a great quality for a coach as it also tends to rub off on the players.
4. Virat’s torridness and Dravid’s tranquilness will complement like ice and fire. Two tempestuous heads in same engine is never a good idea.
5. He and Kumble understand that cricket is beyond emotion and passion, like a science. He has a great tactical nous especially about the test cricket overseas.
