Will White make it to Beijing?

The Olympic champion was seen leaving the stadium with injuries. White has put on a really great performance during the qualifiers. However, due to an ankle issue, White made the decision to not run in the finals.

This will be the first time in many years that the US Olympic snowboarding team will go ahead without Shaun White.

US Olympic Ski and Snowboard Head Coach Mike Jankowski has revealed that White couldn’t get warmed up enough to perform in the finals. Jankowski added that it would have been risky for White to perform since he wasn’t feeling at his top game.

“If you’re off a bit and you’re not feeling your ‘A-game, at this level, at night in the icy white, it’s risky as you know so he decided to take a break,”  said Jankowski.

In the previous events, White came 7th and 8th and is the 3rd ranked American when it comes to snowboarding. In the last few years, the Japanese have come to dominate the sport.

Moreover, White has also revealed that he has contracted Covid in late December.

Shaun White is still in the running  for Beijing Olympics 2022

However, the US Olympic team is set to be finalized only on January 21. This means that White still has the hope to get his nomination for the team.
