The athlete was formerly nicknamed “Flying Tomato” for his unique red hair locks. And his decision to chop it off has an interesting story behind it.
White’s decision to change his hairstyle
White’s achievements allowed him to stand out as an icon, filled with dedication and enthusiasm towards the sport. His mind-blowing speedy moves help him reach the finish line before everyone else.
Popularly known as “Flying Tomato,” White is famous for his flowing red locks, which he decided to chop off almost 10 years ago. Posting a video after his haircut in December 2012, he shocked fans.
“I went to an event in Vegas where I run into Carrot Top. We were talking about our hair and he basically looked at me like you could see into his soul and he basically said he was stuck like this,” said White.
Scott Thompson, popularly known as Carrot Top is also famous for his fiery red hair.
“And at that point, it was like seeing the ghost of Christmas future. And at that point, I was like omg I can change.”
The athlete grew tired of hearing the same nickname and finally decided to chop off. White donated the hair to Locks of Love, who work towards helping needy children by making wigs.
Currently, the athlete is well-focused on proving himself the best training with the arrival of the 2022 Beijing Olympics. The 35-year-old will be the most experienced competitor.

“Just motivated, you know, and I don’t really like to let off the gas. I mean, you may not see me, but I’m still doing all the things that I need to,” said the athlete.

White believes in going for quality over quantity.
“And the thing that’s nice with the age is like you just realize so much about yourself. It’s like, hey I’m going for quality over quantity,” he added.
Further, he acknowledged the fact that age helps one understand themselves better.
