Vasyl Lomachenko put his hands on the WBO inter-continental lightweight title by outpointing Richard Commey for all 12 rounds in the latest Top Rank main event.  Despite suffering some minor setbacks in-rig ‘Hi-Tec’ Loma did what he was supposed to. He moved well, jabbed well, and offered power punches at the right times.

Richard Commey had very little to offer in response to Lomachenko’s skills. However, ‘RC’ showcased his own skillset and earned the respect of the crows. After a full-length action, Lomachenko earned a comfortable decision with two judges scoring it 119-108, and one of them scoring 117-110, all three in favor of the Ukrainian legend. Vasyl Lomachenko and Richard Commey offered a slow start to their electrifying lightweight scrap. They used the entire first round to decode each other’s game plan with Commey planting a body shot in the last minutes. Lomachenko also threw a power shot, but none of them were intended to be haymakers. Meanwhile, round two saw a sheer change in both men’s body movements.

Lomachenko and Commey both moved rapidly and seemed eager to hit each other. That’s when Vasyl Lomachenko found ways to connect Commey with a sharp left. Although ‘RC’ returned the favor with action, Lomachenko seemed determined to win. Just when the clock ticked for the final time in round two, Lomachenko shook his opponent with a massive shot, bringing the fans to their toes. ‘Hi-Tech’ Loma connected a total of 12 power shots in that particular round.

Richard Commey began round three with more awareness. He checked up at his movements and didn’t let Lomachenko get too close. He saw some success using that tactic and poured shots clean on Lomachenko’s face, but the Ukrainian legend didn’t go down. Instead, he pressed forward for more action and cracked up Commey’s chin just before round three ended.

Round four was competitive from both sides. Commey didn’t want to let go of his win easily and showed sheer caliber against Lomachenko, who also seemed strong. It was clear, Loma vs Commey was going to be an interesting fight from that point.

Vasyl Lomachenko vs Richard Commey: Unstoppable action throughout

Lomachenko began dominating the fight by putting his combination shots to the display. He moved pretty brilliantly all over the ring and attacked Commey from various angles. But at no point, Lomachenko seemed to be in a hurry. He took his time to craft the game plan and slowly advanced himself on the scorecard. However, he pulled off the trigger in the final stage of round seven.

After catching Commey by the ropes, Lomachenko poleaxed him with heavy shots and was clearly aiming to stop the fight. Commey could barely stand up and was constantly defending himself. No doubt, ‘The Matrix’ had sensed victory by then.

He battered ‘RC’ throughout, but Commey could make it to round eight and that was quite applaudable. Nevertheless, Commey had an unstable leg, and Vasyl Lomachenko appeared in his best version. The difference was prominent as Lomachenko continued battering his rival. Richard Commey was still dangerous and was throwing power shots from his end, But Lomachenko ducked them all and entered the championship rounds comfortably.
