Norwegian sensation Jakob Ingebrigtsen has shattered records and left his competitors gasping for air. He currently holds the world record in the short track 1500 meters, short track mile, 2000 meters, and 3000 meters. And if that wasn’t enough, he also owns the world’s best time in the two-mile event. But what makes Jakob different? It’s not just his speed—his tireless search for greatness is to blame.

At just 24, he’s already cemented his place among the all-time greats, and he’s nowhere near done. Where has the Norwegian track and field star gained this momentum from? Well, the Norwegian middle- and long-distance running sensation comes from a remarkably athletic family. It seems like the tracks are in his DNA. From the European Championship to the Olympic gold medalist, he has done it all. And if the track and field dominance was not enough, he and his siblings have also made a legacy in entertainment. Yep, read it correctly.

The Ingebrigtsen family gained fame not only through their athletic achievements but also via the Norwegian reality TV series Team Ingebrigtsen, which aired from 2016 to 2021, and a subsequent Amazon Prime series, Ingebrigtsen: Born to Run, released in September 2024. And not to mention, Jakob isn’t the only star in the family. The Ingebrigtsen have excelled in speed, endurance, and surprisingly sibling rivalry—leading the running world. So, who are the siblings of a Norwegian long-distance runner?

Who are the siblings of Jakob Ingebrigtsen? Meet Filip and Henrik Ingebrigtsen.

If you think Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s dominance on the track is impressive, wait until you meet his brothers—Filip and Henrik Ingebrigtsen. They aren’t just his siblings—they’re elite runners in their own right. And like any other sibling, Ingebrigtsen also doesn’t shy away from extending support. And why not? If siblings won’t support each other, then who will, right? One such instance was standing against his father when Jakob and his brothers accused their father, Gjert, of violent and abusive behavior.

Henrik, being the eldest, has been the source of motivation for both his younger siblings. He started his career in 2012, and what a start! The eldest Ingebrigtsen started with gold itself! How, and when? Well, he broke the 3:40 barrier in 1500 m at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki. Amazing, isn’t it? And since then, Henrik has recorded his personal best in all distances. But it doesn’t make Filip any less.

The middle one, Filip, also followed in Henrik’s footsteps. Starting with his own European 1500m title in 2016, adding more fire to the family’s competitive spirit. And didn’t stop there. At the 2019 London Diamond League, Filip set a national record and personal best of 3:49.60 in the mile. But are they good, loving, caring siblings, or is there another side to the coin—rivalry?

Have an interesting take?

Henrik, a European champion, and Filip, a World Championship medalist, have already set the standard, but Jakob took it to another level. The Ingebrigtsen brothers have always thrived on competition, being at home, or on the track. But Jakob? He’s rewriting the script. With his confidence soaring, one thing is certain: the Ingebrigtsen name isn’t going anywhere. If anything, it’s only getting stronger. Do you know, Jakob Ingebrigtsen and both of his siblings are far away from the track? How, you may ask?

It is all about their last year’s June project. It wasn’t about breaking records on the track—it was about making history off it. The Ingebrigtsen brothers have teamed up to create Norway’s new Olympic anthem, blending their competitive spirit with national pride. Just before the Paris Olympics, the Ingebrigtsen brothers released a wild song titled “Ingen gjør det bedre,” which translates to “Nobody does it better.” And it was not just a release of a song, but also the debut of their band, “The IngebritZ.” This isn’t just another sports anthem; it’s a deeply personal tribute to their journey and the unwavering support of their country. But what about the rivalry between the siblings?

Well, when it comes to track, competition is competition, and every opponent is your rival. But brothers always stand for each other, and “at the same time, when your family wins, you win. I remember when I saw Henrik crying when Filip won the World Championships in 2017. Henrik told me he had the exact same reaction when I won at the Olympics. Weirdly, we feel like we’re part of each other’s process when we achieve some kind of success,” Jakob admitted in an interview with Nike.

“The most important thing that younger runners can do is to set goals for themselves. For me, it was to beat my brothers, and by doing that, I became one of the best runners in the world,” Jakob further adds as he talks about his brothers and goals. With a mix of fierce competition and unwavering brotherly support, the Ingebrigtsens have redefined what it means to be champions—both on and off the track. As Jakob continues to chase greatness, one thing is clear: the legacy of the Ingebrigtsen brothers is only just getting started.
