Well, there is a new Cardwell in town—and he’s bringing the heat. At 6’5″, Drake Cardwell isn’t just Dylan’s little brother anymore. The Auburn Tigers‘ newest guard is stepping onto the scene with big energy, serious defense, and family legacy written all over him. He might be a redshirt freshman, but don’t let that fool you—Drake’s got game, grit, and a story worth watching. So, who is this rising star off the court? Let’s meet the Cardwells behind the jersey.

Who are Drake Cardwell’s parents? What do they do?

Drake’s mother, Michele Cardwell, is the most influential person in the player’s life. Michele has played a significant role in shaping Drake’s career. Like every mother, she has been a constant pillar of strength and support to Drake and his siblings.

Besides looking after her children, she was often seen accompanying Drake to early morning workouts during his high school years, mostly to drive him to the sessions and back. Despite hiding her professional details from the public eye, some instances indicate her active presence in Drake’s life.

However, we cannot make the same claims regarding his father. Drake’s father has been away from the media limelight, with no apparent social media handles either.

Does Drake Cardwell have any siblings?

Yes—Drake Cardwell comes from a talented trio of siblings: Duvall Cardwell, his older brother, and Dylan Cardwell. Together, the Cardwell brothers are writing a new chapter in Auburn basketball history, much like the Harper brothers before them. Jared Harper made his mark as a key player in Auburn’s 2019 Final Four run, while Jalen Harper held it down as a walk-on from 2022 to 2024. Now, it’s the Cardwells’ turn.

As a professionally well-known  graduate senior at Auburn, Dylan is one of the most prominent players on the team. The fifth season player at the Tigers, Dylan is an older brother, roommate, guide and mentor to Drake both on and off the court.

Reflecting on the experience of sharing the court with Drake, Dylan shared, “It means the world to me. It’s always opening the door for the next man. To give him this opportunity to play for one of the best programs in the country and the best university in the country, it’s a blessing beyond imagination.”

What is Drake Cardwell’s parents’ nationality?

A two-time CSRA All-Star captain at Evans High School and student of McEachern High School in Augusta, Georgia, the all-rounder showcased an astonishing average of 14.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game as a school senior. Drake later enrolled in Kennesaw State University where his playing opportunities were limited, close to nil. Lucky for the team and his fans, he switched to the Auburn Tigers in 2024, where the potential is yet to portray his prowess on the court.

Over the years, he has learnt to embrace his American heritage and athletic identity along the way. Now, as the younger Cardwell enters the spotlight, the question isn’t if he’ll make an impact—it’s how big that impact will be. Will he rise to meet the legacy of his older brother Dylan… or carve out an even greater one of his own? Time and talent will tell.
