What happened with Eugenie Bouchard at US Open 2015?
Eugenie Bouchard had slipped in a dimly lit trainer room before her fourth-round match at the US Open of 2015. This led to a serious head injury which would force her to withdraw from the tournament.
In fact, she wouldn’t play a single match throughout the rest of the season. She had slipped as a result of the cleaning solution that was used on the floor. Apparently, there was no indication of the same to warn the athletes of the slippery floor.
This would lead to Eugenie Bouchard blaming the United States Tennis Association (USTA) of negligence. They said, in their defense, that the cleaners thought that all the athletes had left the room. However, Bouchard would sue the USTA seeking damages for the loss of earnings as a result of the grave injury.

She ultimately prevailed in the court with a New York jury pronouncing the USTA liable for 75 percent of the damages. However, she would also have to take accountability for the remaining 25 percent on her own negligence. Overall, it was considered a victory for Bouchard. The year of this decision was 2018.
