The East London club are “working hard” to have the Arsenal full-back, Carl Jenkinson play for them, according to the club chairman, David Gold, according to talkSport. Along with him, they also hope to sign the Juventus center-back Angelo Ogbonna.
Carl Jenkinson had spent his last season with the Hammers on a loan deal as he was doubtful of a first team spot behind the likes of Callum Chambers and Hector Bellerin. The 23-year-old man had played 36 matches for the club last season, and had a decent season. But West Ham seem not the only club eyeing for Jenkinson as both Sunderland and Southampton seem to consider him an attractive option.
West Ham have had a pretty successful transfer season so far, having already brought in players like Dimitri Payet from Marseille, Pedro Obiang from Sampdoria and goalkeeper Darren Randolph from Birmingham.
Angelo Ogbonna, on the other hand, is the third choice center-back at the Old lady, as Chiellini and Liechtensteiner have a higher preference. The 27 year-old though, has played 10 matches for the Italian national side. An other possible option which is rumoured is Cabaye.
Gold was quoted saying : ‘We recognise this is an important season for us and being in Europe we will go the extra mile to ensure we have got the strongest possible squad we can muster.’
