Ariel Helwani and Daniel Cormier sat down to discuss the top fighters in the woman’s division. They come to a mutual agreement regarding the position of Valentina Shevchenko in the overall rankings.
On this week’s show, the duo discusses all things UFC and in the mix, they also discuss the rankings of the fighters of the promotion. Daniel Cormier was shocked when he saw Zhang Weili rank second, above Valentina Shevchenko, and just below the all-time GOAT Amanda Nunes.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani about his opinion of the rankings, Cormier said, “One thing I saw on Saturday that I didn’t agree with, I saw the female top 5 rankings and I love Zhang Weili. But there is no way she should be above Valentina Shevchenko.”

Helwani had the same reaction as Cormier. Daniel Cormier continued to say, “She’s number 2! She should never be number 2 over Valentina. It’s Amanda, Valentina and then Zhang Weili and then everybody else.” Cormier has his top 3 from the woman’s side sorted out.

Moreover, Cormier couldn’t stress enough on how much Shevchenko deserves the second spot on that list. He said, “It’s Amanda then Valentina and then anybody else. Because they completely separated themselves from anybody else in female fighting.”

And to add to the authenticity of his statement, he also made a list that entails all the females that come under the pound-for-pound ranking. Cormier said, “If we’re doing full-on female pound-for-pound, Amanda, Valentina, Cyborg and Zhang Weili. That’s Fair! But Zhang Weili should not be on top of Valentina Shevchenko.”
