The LIV-PGA merger is the biggest news in the golfing world right now. The two giants coming together was controversial, especially after the events that led up to it. Golfers even picked one organization over the other but it all seems to be water under the bridge now. Legendary players are promoting products related to the organizations, including NBA Hall-of-Famer Michael Jordan. He will be releasing a shoe that pays homage to a culturally historic landmark in the PGA’s lifetime.
It’s been 62 years since the event, and fans love the thoughtfulness of the collaboration.

This collaboration was brought about to honor the 62-year anniversary of a ground-breaking change to the PGA guidelines. In 1961, PGA – the world’s then-largest golfing organization – lifted its ban on non-white players. Golfer Charlie Sifford made history by becoming the first African-American to earn a PGA Tour Card.
The black and green shoe has the name Air Jordan embossed in gold, and the white strap over the soles accentuates the striking sharpness of the design. The word emblazoned on the shoes is ‘change’ with the historical year mentioned. The shoes will be available to buy in September and will retail at $200.

While this is a tremendous occasion to mark, Jordan’s shoes are often a matter of pride among its fans. Even for players, having their own line of Jordans is considered unique territory in the NBA world. Only very few players at the top have a shoe to their name.

Even in the secondary market, an Air Jordan can be worth over $60,000. This is not just due to the shoe, but because of the player wearing them – and the legacy they bring to it.
