The first round of the CP Women’s Open is over, and the results look promising for Nelly Korda. After her setback in the AIG Women’s British Open earlier this month, she was looking for an opportunity to get back in the game. Looks like she has done just that.
In the press conference, she mentioned her dissatisfaction with how the British Open went and claimed she had done well here, in comparison. While she did not exactly rejoice at it, she expressed confidence and satisfaction after her first round.

With three birdies and a bogey, Nelly Korda scored a 2-under in the first round of the CP Women’s Open. She has totaled a 70 in the 72-par course and now shares the 9th position with three others.
Korda, however, claimed that she could not strike the ball to her satisfaction in the first round. “Today I didn’t hit it as good as I wanted to but it’s a tough golf course.” She sounded optimistic about playing a few more good rounds.
Although she was not happy with her striking, she felt satisfied with her putting in the first round. It looked like she carried a new, longer, putter this time around.
“Today I putted really well. Been working really hard on it.” She claimed.
She recalled her performance in the recent AIG Women’s Open and compared it to her current form. “I think I struck it the best I’ve struck it in two years at the British and my putter really let me down.”
Nelly Korda scored a total of 2-over in the AIG Women’s Open and shared the 11th position with four others. Although she did well in the second and third rounds, her first and fourth rounds gave up on her. Let’s look at the scoreboard to understand where Korda slipped in the AIG British Women’s Open.

A battle of bogeys versus birdies
Nelly Korda was spot-on about how struck well, but her putting didn’t complement her strikes. The greens let her down big time. As for the score, in the first round of the tournament, she scored three birdies which were set off by the four bogeys she sustained. She quickly recovered in the second round with a 2-under and spiked up her performance in the third round further.
Korda scored an eagle and five birdies in the third round. Despite that four bogeys in the same round dragged her to a 3-under. The final round tested her patience even more. While she scored a single birdie in the round, she sustained three bogeys and ended with a 2-over, which also became her tournament total.
