The iconic blue legacy Twitter tick had been a symbol of exclusivity and authenticity for celebrities and eminent personalities across the board. The social media organization used to give them out for free before Elon Musk took over and introduced a charge to keep the widely acknowledged mark. If you take a look through Twitter right now, many big names have lost their verification badges. Superstars and celebrities like Stephen King and LeBron James were set to be among them. But Elon Musk personally made sure that that doesn’t happen.

Being one of the few to share a special privilege, here is why King James won’t lose his verification mark on Twitter.

When the new policy came out, fans wondered just how many celebrities will pay Twitter to keep their badges. When it comes to LeBron James, don’t let the billion-dollar net worth deceive you. He might be willing to spend over a million dollars on his body each year, but he is completely against spending small amounts to get some extra perks.

Back in 2017, LeBron’s close friend Dwyane Wade called him the ‘cheapest’ NBA star. James’ response was: “That is so, so falsely true. I’m not turning on data roaming, I’m not buying no apps, I still got Pandora with commercials.”

So when Twitter’s new policy came out, the Los Angeles Lakers forward made it clear that he wasn’t paying the $5 fees for his blue legacy Twitter mark. Fast forward to today, when most of his friends lost the iconic tick, James somehow still has it by his name. And he has only one man to thank, Elon Musk.

The CEO of Twitter took it upon himself to ‘personally pay’ the verification fee for LeBron James’ account. However, King James isn’t the only one who gets this special treatment. As it turns out, Musk is covering the payment of many celebrities on Twitter, including Stephen King and William Shatner. King, who is a popular author, initially had no idea about the surprise Elon Musk had for him.

He went on Twitter absolutely shocked, that the platform said he had subscribed to Twitter Blue. “My Twitter account says I’ve subscribed to Twitter Blue. I haven’t. My Twitter account says I’ve given a phone number. I haven’t,” King wrote. His worries were quickly put to bed by the $192 billion businessman who responded saying, “You’re welcome namaste”
