The first Grand Slam of the new season, the Australian Open 2021, will begin on February 8. As the situation is different compared to previous seasons, players are finding it difficult to cope with things. To begin with, players have been in quarantine for 14 days due to the protocol issued by authorities.

Due to this, they have had to train in their own respective hotel rooms. The players have made the most of the situation they are in and were seen performing various exercises and drills. They have to keep themselves physically fit as the tournament is around the corner.

Tennys Sandgren loses cool ahead of Australian Open 2021

Recently, American tennis player Tennys Sandgren lost his cool and blasted at officials. He stated, “I just found out that we aren’t going to be able to leave the room till about midnight tomorrow, which will put us at close to 15 days in this room and it’s also another day where we can’t practice… That’s play Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and play a match on Tuesday, a competitive tennis match.” 

It’s a challenging situation these players are facing. To be able to practice only for a limited amount of time prior to a Grand Slam can be difficult.

At the moment, a set of tennis players are in Adelaide in Australia. They are part of the one-day exhibition event ‘A Day at the Drive’. After that, they will travel to Melbourne and join the rest of the players for the first Major at the Australian Open 2021.

After a number of discussions and rules being taken into consideration, governing bodies worked out a plan to ensure this event. With the difficulties the world has faced due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, it is a commendable act.
