Shanghai Masters 2020 – Is It Possible?

Since China was the first place to report the coronavirus many had given up on the tournament being conducted. But things have actually improved ever since and the tournament could be played if certain issues are resolved. In an interview with Tennis Majors, the director of the Shanghai Masters event talked about these issues.

“The real issue would be, I think, the travel restrictions that may be still in place leading into the tournament, which would certainly impact the ability for players to even access the China market, without potentially having to be in quarantine.”

He also said such a decision is up to the government and whether they want to go ahead with such a large sporting event. He admitted they can only wait until the end of August until they make a decision.

It is good to hear the director still working on conducting the tournament as there might be some hope. Many countries have invested in developing a vaccine and some have said they are very close to it.

If a vaccine is developed, we might see the return of the ATP Tour. This means we will see our favorite tennis players play some tournaments again which will include the Shanghai Masters. This will be what every tennis fan is hoping for and hopefully, it will happen.
