5.Manchester United vs Middlesbrough (FA Cup 2005)

No 5. in our list features this magical volley by Wayne Rooney against Middlesbrough in the 4th round of the 2005 FA Cup. A long punt up field by the goalkeeper was met by Louis Saha who headed the ball into Rooney’s path. The Englishman took no hesitation in smashing the ball on the volley, with the ball nestling in to the far corner. A truly delightful goal and one any striker would have been proud of. 4. Manchester United Vs Portsmouth ( FA Cup- 2007)

Next on our list of Wayne Rooney’s best goals is this delightful chip against Portsmouth in the 4th round of the 2007 FA Cup. Rooney picked up the ball near the edge of the penalty box and then displayed an astonishing bit of creativity and finesse by chipping the ball over the helpless David James into the top corner. The goal was almost reminiscent of Eric Cantona’s famous chip against Sunderland.

3.Manchester United vs West Ham (2014) :

No list of Wayne Rooney’s finest goals would be complete without this 50 yard volley against Premier League opponents West Ham. Rooney picked up the ball on the half line, striking the ball on the volley after seeing the goalkeeper off his line. The ball pitched inside the six yard box before hitting the inside of the roof of the net. The onlooking David Beckham was left astonished with the goal which has drawn comparisons with his famous strike against Wimbledon.

2.Manchester United VS Newcastle (2005)

No.2 on our list is this special strike against Newcastle United in 2005. United had gone a goal down to Newcastle but Rooney quickly restored parity with a breathtaking ?volley which flew into the top corner from 25 yards out. The ball was struck with such ferocity and swerve, that no goalkeeper would have stood a chance. This goal would have made No.1 spot for any other player, but given the quality of Wayne Rooney’s finishing, it has to settle for second.
