Jon Jones is the undisputed king of the light heavyweight division. He hasn’t been finished or submitted in his entire MMA career. Jones has defended the UFC gold a record ten times, with two long and successful reigns as a Champion. He faced Chael Sonnen in his fifth title defense at UFC 159 during his first reign as the light heavyweight champion. And what followed was very much like Jon Jones as he finished the fight in the first round.

Jones is an incredible wrestler, known for his elite grappling skills, however, is an equally brilliant boxer and a very heavy puncher. After coming off an impressive victory against Vitor Belfort, Jones took on Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 with the championship belt on the line.
Additionally, the fight is Jones’ only first-round victory with the title belt on the line. Going into the match, Jones marched towards Sonnen as both the fighters shared shots towards each other. While Sonnen looked to keep the fight on the ground, Jones was quick enough to get multiple takedowns in the first round.
He looked more efficient than Sonnen, as he easily dominated the entire fight. Jones looked impressive in his takedowns and kept Sonnen at the mercy of his weight and punches. At the fourth minute of the fight, Jones advanced towards Sonnen and took him down with a nasty slam on the mat. It was game over for Sonnen after that.
Jones followed his takedown with vicious ground and pound. Sonnen, who looked tired, could only try to help himself by keeping his hands to cover his face. Jones followed it up with elbows and punches, till the referee had seen enough. He retained his championship belt yet again in another incredible performance inside the octagon.

Jon Jones will face Dominick Reyes for the UFC light heavyweight championship at UFC 247. Reyes is undefeated and poses a serious threat to Jones’ undefeated streak. However, Jon Jones remains a favorite to win the fight.
