In September 2011, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was hosting its first event at the Pepsi Center in Denver after nearly 20 years. Jon Jones vs. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was set to entertain the crowd as the main event then at the UFC 135.
The fight was Jones’ first title defence. The title defence was actually supposed to have happened at the UFC 133 against Rashad Evans. But a hand injury sidelined Jon Jones. After rehabilitation, a fight for Jones’ title defence was scheduled.
From the onset, Jones looked prepared for the fight. He looked like someone who studied his opponent well. He eventually won the fight in the fourth round via submission.
