The US Open 2020 was held behind closed doors, while the French Open 2020 saw just 1000 spectators allowed inside the Roland Garros fields.

Australian Open organizers are planning to allow 50 percent of the seats to be filled by fans. This is subject to government clearance. They also <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/that-wont-happen-australian-open-2021-proposes-to-relax-strict-quarantine-measures/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">plan</a> on introducing relaxations on a lot of the quarantine restrictions the players had in Paris and New York.

His biggest triumph came at the 2020 US Open, where he defeated Alexander Zverev in the final. With the win, Thiem became the first male player born in the 1990s to win a tennis major and also the first Austrian to win the US Open slam. Overall, he has won 17 ATP singles titles and finished as runner-up three times (one at the Australian Open and two at the French Open), to go with losing two year-end ATP Finals. Thiem has been dating Lili Paul-Ronacli, a professional dancer and performer who hails from Germany. The couple started dating in 2019, and since then they have been together.

2020 was the best season for Dominic Thiem as a tennis player. The season was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Austrian tennis player registered 25 wins, compared to only nine losses. This also included his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open in New York, in the final against <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/alexander-zverev/">Alexander Zverev</a>. He also reached the finals of the Australian Open, losing to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. He reached the quarterfinals of the French Open and finished the season strong, as he made it to the final of the ATP Finals against <a href="https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/daniil-medvedev/">Daniil Medvedev</a>. In 2021, Dominic Thiem reached the fourth round of the Australian Open but opted out of the Monte Carlo Masters, seeking a break. He struggled right through the clay season, exiting in the first round of the French Open.
