Conor McGregor vs Donald Cerrone is the first main event of this year. And what a way to start things off. It’s always a blockbuster when there is a McGregor fight on the card. And as promised the 2020 season will kick off this Saturday inside T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Conor takes on Cowboy at UFC 246 in a welterweight bout. There have been a ton of speculations surrounding how would Conor do at the welterweight division where he only has a two-fight experience. Besides the experience, there are so many other factors that seem intriguing in this matchup.

Conor McGregor fought Nate Diaz twice at welterweight and on both times he came underweight(168lbs). However, for his fight against Cerrone, Conor weighs in at 170 lbs. Though it seemed Conor was much better conditioned for his return he stated that he was just above 160lbs a few days before the fight. However, Conor’s official weight for the main event of January 18th is 170 lbs.
McGregor’s opponent, Donald Cerrone had no problem with the weight cut on this occasion and comes in at 170 lbs too.
Donald Cerrone looks strong
Donald Cerrone is a natural welterweight. He revealed in a recent media interaction that he feels the current 170 fighters are way too big and strong. While that points to a future at the lightweight division, despite the bout happening in the welterweight division.
One half of the co-main event, Raquel Pennington(136 lbs) makes weight comfortably for the bantamweight fight with former champion, Holly Holm.
After a couple of welterweight bouts, Anthony Pettis comes down to lightweight for a fight against Diego Ferreira. He looked better this time compared to his last few weight cuts for the lightweight division. The official weight for both Pettis and Ferreira is 155.5 lbs.
