Venus Williams opened up on the scheduling of her opening-round Wimbledon fixture on an outside court on Tuesday.

As it turned out on Court 3, the five-time All-England champion won in three sets straight sets against Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu.

Speaking to reporters after going down in Round-2 against talented Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the seven-time Grand Slam champion said she wasn?t disappointed at being asked to go out on an outside court as she was here to play tennis.

Venus added that she doesn?t mind playing on any court as long as she is winning on it.

“I am here to play”: Venus Williams

?I wasn?t disappointed. I?m here to play. And I?m here to play on whatever court I?m put on. And as long as I win on that court that?s all I care about,? the 41-year-old champion said.

She added that she was happy to be playing on Court 3 as she has ?lots of happy memories? on it.

Have many happy memories on Court 3: Venus

?Court 3 is quite a nice court. To be honest, I have a lot of great memories on that court in singles and doubles. So, to me, it was like going home, and, you know, whatever happens, happens,? Venus said.

Coming into the event without featuring in any grass court tune-up this year, the American opened her All England campaign with a three-set takedown of Buzarnescu of Romania.

Though far younger in years, the Romanian was left chasing shadows in the opening set as Venus scored a decisive break of serve and held her own to win it 7-5.

Buzarnescu came out all guns blazing in the second set and got on top of the American to blitz to a 6-4 win.

However, just when it seemed that the champion may not have enough in her legs to fight back, Venus rolled back the years to stun the Romanian in the decider.
