Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, 2020 has been an unusual year for the gaming industry. While developers had to push their limits to develop and test games from home, PlayStation and Xbox encountered similar issues with manufacturing their new-gen consoles.
Game developing is a task that requires interaction and smooth sharing of ideas; however, 2020 severely affected this process. This further reduced the efficiency of developers; accordingly, several titles like Cyberpunk 2077 could not satisfy the hype around them.
Having said that, 2020 still had some brilliant games that mesmerized fans around the world. Interestingly, a majority of these games were PlayStation exclusives.

A recent tweet by Shinobi, the manager at Wushu studios, appreciated Sony for ending the decade with a “massive bang”.
Thinking about 2020 and just realized Sony ended the decade with a massive bang. What a phenomenal year it was for @PlayStation.

Benji-sales, on Twitter, added to the applause by claiming that this is Sony’s best year as a publisher. He says so because the tech giant published games across several genres that eventually bagged many nominations and awards.
I think it's Sony's best year as a Publisher ever
The amount of high quality games they released was just incredible. Multiple Game of the Year contenders, nice variety from hardcore M rated stuff like The Last of Us to a fun co-op family game like Sackboy

Best PlayStation exclusives in 2020
It is no surprise that PlayStation always had the upper hand in the console war, thanks to its exclusives. Unsurprisingly, a similar trend is evident even in the new generation of gaming that arrived with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
The Last of Us 2
Following the massive success of its prequel, fans had sky scraping expectations from The Last of Us 2. The game not only lived up to the expectations, but set new benchmarks for action-adventure games.
Including Game of The Year, The Last of Us 2 bagged a total of seven wins at the The Game Awards 2020.
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Miles Morales, gained an overwhelmingly positive response from the PlayStation community. Spider-Man is one of the, if not the most loved character in the Marvel comics and cinematic universe.
The prequel to the blockbuster game Marvel’s Spider-Man not only made a huge name for itself, but helped PlayStation by attracting millions of superhero fans towards the PS5.
Demon’s Souls(remake)
Along with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls was another exclusive available at the PlayStation 5’s launch. It won’t be an overstatement that Bluepoint games picked the original game apart and re-built it from scratch.
While maintaining the authentic storyline from 2009 Demon’s Souls, the remake is truly next-gen with detailed graphics, a new sound design, and features like ray-tracing.
