Planning to host the illustrious Tour de France for the 37th time, the championship is all set to unfold in Lille. Alongside, it will also grace the surrounding northern regions of the country. As the post-pandemic era led to a sudden halt in home games, this recent news has posed the beginning of a renewed era!

Evidently, three consecutive foreign visits before the much-anticipated return amplified the exhilarating wait for this cycling homecoming escapade. Adding to the fans’ excitement, the race organizers, ASO, have even hinted at the potential inclusion of a Roubaix-style stage, tantalizing all spectators with an authentic essence! 

Homecoming cycling championship gains appraisal!

As France prepares to host the cycling race once again, since its inception in 1903, the prospect of the famous velodrome ignited roars of adrenaline pumps. Venued merely kilometers outside the town, the cycling world eagerly waited for this monumental event after a series of far-flung games. The race had to opt for Copenhagen in 2022, followed by the Spanish Basque Country hosting it in 2023, as per Global Cycling Network

As per reports, the 2024 annual cycling tournament will take off in Florence, marking the last year before it reaches back home. With back-to-back French starts in the previous era, the event was set off from Nice in 2020 and subsequently brightened the cycling passion of Brittany in 2021. Such consecutive games had undoubtedly become a rarity amidst the growing prevalence of foreign initiations, marking the first stance in 15 years.

The Tour’s much-awaited commencement will encompass the Hauts-de-France region, followed by the Nord Départment. Eventually, it will also include the Lille European Metropolis. Additionally, speculation surrounded the cycling tour, with rumors mentioning the presence of a potential coastal route. While exploring the Nord area, the idea echoed the thrilling style seen in the 2022 Tour’s stage 4 category.

Won in spectacular fashion by Wout van Aert from the Jumbo-Visma cycling team, the well-planned course promised another enthralling spectacle. Potentially featuring a path extending to the picturesque coastal towns of Dunkirk or Calais, it drew parallels to the excitement of previous stages. The edition also aimed to captivate audiences with its diverse and challenging terrain, holding historical significance in the locality with two prior Grand Départ events from 1960 and 1994.

Notably, in 2022, the cycling championship even initiated a stage leading to Arenberg, offering a thrilling preview akin to a mini Paris-Roubaix day. As the countdown begins, cycling enthusiasts worldwide seek the unveiling of the complete stage details on November 30 in Lille. With the fervor and anticipation surrounding the 2025 tournament, expectations are high for a riveting start on French soil, once again!
