In the ever-evolving landscape of sports and entertainment, there’s always room for innovation and surprises. The year 2022 witnessed the birth of an unprecedented sporting phenomenon – the Pillow Fight Championship (PFC). Founded by Steve Williams in 2021, this unique league combines elements of mixed martial arts with pillows.
With durable handles and ripstop nylon, these pillows allow for swift and forceful movements. Comically, this also creates a distinctive sound upon impact. Each bout lasts a mere 90 seconds, and each of them are designed to offer mini glimpses. But as the PFC gained traction, some fans couldn’t help but express their bewilderment at the new sport.

Desperate for sports and entertainment that could comply with safety regulations, enthusiasts explored unique avenues. It was then that people, starved for competition, rallied behind the concept of using pillows as weapons within a sporting context. The PFC was the answer to their dreams. They promised to offer a bizarre blend of athleticism, humor, and social distancing that captivated both participants and viewers alike.

On January 29, 2022, Florida played host to the inaugural Pillow Fight Championship 1. The event featured 24 competitors, including 16 men and 8 women athletes, who engaged in strategic pillow fights. The tournament followed a bracket-style format, in order to give the best spectacle possible.
However, a lot has changed in the last four years. Not only is social distancing a thing of the past now, other forms of martial arts are also back in full swing. This means, now, when a clip of the PFC bout went viral, fans were left confused.
