Dangerous Terrain Claims Lives

The Aonach Eagach ridge, marked by its formidable rocky terrain and demanding scrambling requirements, has seen its share of tragic incidents in the past. Last year, a climber lost his life after falling over 650 feet when a rock he was gripping gave way.

The ridge’s eastern-to-western stretch includes two Munro summits, each over 3,000 feet high. Despite its breathtaking beauty, the ridge’s treacherous slopes and hidden cliffs on both sides make it a perilous endeavor.
