In response to Matei’s predicament, his school friend Julia Walczak took the initiative to launch a fundraiser aimed at providing him with a chance to regain his mobility. The accident left Matei’s spine in a precarious condition, held together by titanium from a lifesaving surgery. However, the key to his recovery lies in reactivating the dormant nerves within his body.
Matei, speaking about the significance of the fundraiser, stated, “My parents are trying to pay for a special service to activate the nerves in my body, which is what the fundraiser will help pay for. It’s an attempt to get my nerves back, and it will be a long process.” The target of the fundraiser is set at £5,000, a sum that will aid in accessing the costly yet vital treatment.

Julia, driven by a steadfast friendship, emphasized the urgency of the situation. “The longer he stays lying in bed, the lower the chances of him walking again,” she said. With each passing day, the potential for recovery diminishes. Matei will continue his education at Peter Symonds College virtually, highlighting the long road ahead.
