Imagine throwing a concert with hundreds of thousands in attendance and still not being the most famous person at the venue. That’s exactly the kind of fate Coldplay suffered when a certain soccer GOAT was spotted at their gig at Montjuic Stadium in Barcelona. Although he kept a very low profile, many were enthused and absolutely excited to see Argentine and Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi at the gig.
However, he couldn’t have possibly thought he would go unidentified or unnoticed in the city that literally gave him the biggest break of his career.

While the band soulfully crooned to the tune of ‘Yellow’ with the entire stadium, one eagle-eyed fan spotted Messi at the show in the stands. The soccer star looked dapper in a black shirt with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo, looking over the passionate crowd belting their hearts out. The funniest part of it all was that Messi indeed looked like he was doing what he does best – scanning the crowd to find space for a pass.

This hilarious observation went viral after a fan recorded Messi getting up to his instinctive habits. In all likelihood, the Argentine was just looking for a way to get a better look at the band. However, the video is undeniably funny. Oddly enough, the members of Coldplay visited the Barca stadium during their tour in Spain. They clicked pictures with the club’s gems like Robert Lewandowski and Rafinha as well as the coach Xavi Hernandez.

Fans loved Messi’s temperament at the concert. “He’s so wholesome,” said one fan. Others even considered Messi to be up to something more ambitious. “He’s looking for a pass,” one fan said, while another said “Bros playing the side quest at this point.”

Messi is arguably the greatest soccer player of all time. The Argentine has won all there is to win in club and international football. After his first big break with Barcelona, the maestro had a long and illustrious stint with the Catalan giants, winning over 35 trophies. He was pivotal in winning the team three UEFA Champions League trophies before moving to Paris. It was inevitable that the Barca legend would be spotted in the city that has his heart.
