According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is one of the biggest cause of concern. Breast Cancer accounts for 30 percent of all cancers found in woman. So, this initiative allows the players, coaches and the community members to contribute towards cancer. Moreover, the funds raised are used to create a positive impact on the disease.

Head coach Ben Read shared his experience while speaking to berkeleybeakon : “We’ve been doing it because almost everyone has been touched by cancer in some form or another,” said Read. “It’s something we do to raise awareness and help raise a little money towards the Side-Out Foundation.”

The side out foundation not only funds breast research cancer but also does its own. In the year 2010, they started their own research on the process of biopsy. Over the years, the organization has taken massive strides in helping with the treatment of the disease. Hopefully, they can continue their good work.

Emerson College organizes the Dig Pink Games itself. However, other colleges, high schools, junior colleges and youth games can host games as well. Emerson College does a fantastic job of conducting these events. They set up informational posters, balloons and streamers which lights up the whole environment.

“We try to do a little bit more than we did each year,” said Read. “The team will hang out in the skybox and make some posters a day or two before; a little bit of a bonding activity.”
