Teenage Volleyball Star’s Inspirational Comeback Story After Losing Both Her Legs in a Horrific Hit and Run

 Volleyball is a game that requires agility as well as strength. The legs are used to make higher jumps for both smashes and blocks. The whole game is built around the power and precision of a jump and the strike from the hand. It would be a disaster for any player to lose any organ because physical fitness is the core of any outdoor sport.

Recently, a video was uploaded where a volleyball player could be seen walking again after losing both of her legs.

The volleyball player walks up again with prosthetics

An 18-year-old Tennessee player of volleyball had an accident where she lost both of her legs. It was a really disastrous as well as painful incident for her and her family. After multiple surgeries, her legs were removed and she was in rehab. The incident occurred on February 18, 2023. The not giving up attitude and the recent advancements in the medical field have made it possible for Janae Edmondson, to walk up again. In the uploaded video, by her father, Janae could be seen walking up again with the prosthetic sitting on both of her legs. 

Medical prosthetics have been very effective in modern times and have artificially induced some good results of a natural organ. This tragic accident happened to her when she was going to a tournament at St. Louis on February 18.

The horrific accident which turned Janae’s life 

It was around February when she was visiting St. Louis to attend a volleyball tournament. She was hit by a car even after she was walking on the sidewalks. Her family was also around, so her father could recall the exact scenario. Her father mentioned that his daughter’s legs were in good condition. One of her legs was instantly disengaged while the other one was partially attached to her body. It is spine-chilling to see something like that happening to a stranger. Now imagine the pain of her father to look at her daughter in such condition.

However, her father, having some military training, instantly acts in the medical emergency situation. He immediately tied everything which was coming out of her body using belts of eyewitnesses. The mechanism behind it is that if you close out the flowing blood with something, the bleeding can be slowed, or it may sometimes stop, which could ultimately lead to saving a life. The person who was driving the car is identified as Daniel Riley. Daniel is 21 years old and the Edmondson family has already filed a lawsuit against him and their decisions are yet to come out.

Whatever the decision of the court is, the life of Janae Edmondson has been changed completely after this incident. Prosthetics would always let her walk around giving her what she lost in life. The silver lining from this grave incident is that due to advancements in sports, she could continue her career and there are opportunities open for her in various fields and she could make up for it. Paralympics could also be part of achieving a medal for our country.
